Laine Custer retiring from public health April 1

Laine Custer, RN

A retirement reception for long-time public health nurse Laine Custer will be held  Monday, April 1, from 2  to 3:30 pm at Greene County Medical Center.

Custer is retiring after almost 27 years in public health. She started in November 1992 and has been influential in many public health initiatives, including her critical role as an educator for certified nursing aide courses, high school health classes, community babysitting classes, and, most recently, the “A Matter of Balance” classes for seniors. She has been instrumental in other community projects such as emergency preparedness, health needs assessments and distribution of radon kits and sunscreen.

Custer says she is “most pleased with being part of the great work being done in public health, having the opportunity to be part of Greene County Medical Center and all the good work being done for our community.” She also noted, “Teaching and working with students has been a favorite of mine.”

The reception is open to the public and will take place in the cafeteria at Greene County Medical Center.
